BIO

Born into a large family of artists, Yushin was influenced and encouraged to explore her artistic interests at an early age. After discovering graphic design in high school, she went on to earn a bachelor’s degree at the University of Florida in Graphic Design. Over the past decade Yushin’s career as a graphic designer has lead her to work with reputable brands such as Shiseido, Derek Lam, and Victoria’s Secret. Now she is taking the next big step into the art world by focusing on her personal practice.

STATEMENT

In this modern age the art landscape has become more digital than ever, easily detaching ourselves from our bodies and the world around us. The act of physically putting ink to paper calls me back into my body, connecting me to a self I had almost forgotten. In an attempt to bring awareness back to the physical, my work focuses on threading together the natural world with our inner worlds. Most of my work features plants, an overt symbol of nature. Each plant I draw pays homage to the traditional reverence for them, while also helping to preserve what is quickly being lost and forgotten.
